“O Brother, Where Art Thou?”
A lot happens in this episode, including the permanent at least I think death of a major season-long antagonist. That storyline was grounded, focused, and flowed naturally from the arcs those characters have been following all season. We open with a flashback to four years ago, when Lex was first arrested for turning the sun red as a way to take down Superman. In the present day, a gravely ill Lex receives a medical furlough to visit Lena, hoping to see how her research on the Harun-El is coming along. Thankfully, Jon Cryer and Katie McGrath are compelling enough together that it mostly makes up for the plot wonkiness. He argues it was his judgmental nature that pushed her to greatness before offering a more genuinely sentimental compliment too.

So when I say Lex Luthor arrived in a very comic book-like episode of Supergirl I want you to be thinking of that last kind of comic. But I want you to also know that none of that matters because the last five minutes of the episode was so rapturously delicious peek Luthor.
Supergirl has done more than its share of bringing characters from Superman's world into the fold. For starters, Jimmy Olsen is in nearly every episode, and we had an entire season with Cat Grant making Kara's life a little bit more anxious, and another with Metropolis' own Maggie Sawyer. We've had plenty of one-and-done villains and minor recurring characters who come right out of the pages of Superman comics, but one has cast the longest shadow
Supergirl Season 4: Lex Luthor Episode Trailer and Details
Initially, the supervillain positioned himself as a sick man, eager to help his half-sister, Lena Katie McGrath , work on a cure that could heal himself and the recently-shot James Mehcad Brooks. When the power went out at the hospital as James was mid-lifesaving surgery, Lena administered the drug to her friend — which instantly healed him. Fully healed, Lex had his half-sister drugged and left behind as he dramatically fought his way past the security guards who were protecting the compound — complete with lasers shooting from the walkway and mines in the ground.
